Pak Parliamentary delegation meets IPU Secretary General

United Nations: A five-member parliamentary delegation of Pakistan led by Senator Sabir Ali Baloch who is visiting New York to participate in the 2012 Parliamentary Hearing at the UN General Assembly, on the side-line met Inter-Parliament Union (IPU) secretary General, Mr. Anders B. Johnson.
In the meeting both side agrees to enhance cooperation between the IPU and Pakistan’s Parliament.

They also discussed the agenda and format of the Hearing. Mr. Anders B. Johnson, the IPU Secretary General, expressed his desire to visit Pakistan in the second half of 2013.

Other members of the delegation included Senator Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari, Senator Eng. Malik Rashid Ahmed Khan, Senator Mukhtiar Ahmad Dharmah and MNA Arif Aziz Sheikh.

The theme of the Hearing was ‘A road less travelled: the role of parliaments in conflict prevention, reconciliation and peace building’.
