Islamabad: The Senate was informed Tuesday that the country has suffered a loss of 69 billion dollars in the war against terror. Minister of State for Interior Imtiaz Safdar Warraich told the House during question hour that the loss occurred to the economy of the country due to reduction in the foreign investment, GDP growth and employment opportunities.
He said the economy of the country has also been badly affected due to the factors including damage of buildings, compensation paid to the victims of terrorism, settlement and rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons and security measures and similar other factors.
To a question, he said that 145 cases of murder, kidnapping and dacoity have been registered in the two police stations of the city circle Islamabad during the last five years. He said 225 accused persons have been arrested in these cases and 21 cases have been decided while the trial of the remaining is underway.
To another question, he said 50 complaints regarding obnoxious calls were received by the police stations of the city circle Islamabad. He said 33 accused have been arrested in this regard and 10 cases decided by the court.
Replying to a question, Minister of State for Interior Imtiaz Safdar Warraich said that NADRA is an institution of international repute and according to the IT World rating its name has been put in top fifty suppliers of passports and ID cards.
He said NADRA offices have been established at almost all the Pakistan embassies to facilitate the overseas Pakistanis.
