Pak-US Energy Working Group meets in Washington

Islamabad: Pak-US Energy Working Group will meet in Washington today (Tuesday) to foster cooperation in energy sector to help Pakistan overcome electricity shortage.

The meeting will be co-chaired by US Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs Carlos Pascual and Pakistan Ministers of Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi‚ and Water and Power Khawaja Muhammad Asif.

The US State Department said in Washington that the meeting is part of Pak-US Strategic Dialogue framework‚ which was re-energized during US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Islamabad in August.

The United States has pledged to help build new water reservoirs as well as energy infrastructure in Pakistan.
