Pakistan & China for enhancing trade & investment ties through Economic Corridor: S M Tanveer

LAHORE: Chairman APTMA Punjab S M Tanveer welcomed Chinese delegation on Thursday. He called APTMA for identifying trade and investment potential between the Chinese province Xinjiang and Pakistan’s province Punjab.

He said both governments of Pakistan and China were serious about enhancing trade ties through the Economic Corridor.

He also assured the visiting Chinese delegation from the Division of Foreign Economic and Technical Cooperation Department of Commerce of Xinjiang that APTMA will extend full cooperation for forging synergies between the two brotherly countries.

The visiting Chinese delegation identified trade potential between Xinjiang and Punjab. S M Tanveer said Punjab has a strong textile industry base, as 75% Textile Industry is located in the north and it will not hesitate in exploring new avenues with Chinese counterparts with the expansion of economic corridor.

The leader of the Chinese delegation apprised objectives of the visiting Chinese delegation to explore the possibility of cooperation in the textile and energy sectors of Pakistan.

The delegation members held meetings with government officials followed by a visit to APTMA. He said China foresees great opportunity for cooperation with Pakistan and therefore the Chinese delegation is visiting Pakistan to get upfront information about potential areas.

The visiting Chinese delegation also visited spinning mills near Lahore. Earlier, S. M. Tanveer explained that the Textile Industry of Pakistan is competitive and self-sustaining without any subsidy and support and compliant with international standards and procedures in all respects. The Chairman assured the Chinese delegation that Chinese investment in the long run will yield encouraging dividends for both sides.
