Sepoy Muhammad Ikhlaq laid to rest with full honours

Rawalpindi: Sepoy Muhammad Ikhlaq was laid to rest at his native village in Tehsil Kallar Sayedan with full military honors on Saturday.

He was martyred by the Indian forces when he inadvertently crossed over LoC in Khoi Ratta Sector, which drew condemnation from the Pakistan government and Army.Hundreds of people including, family members, relatives, dwellers of the areas and army officials attended the funeral prayers of Ikhlaq Ahmed. He was buried at native graveyard with full military honours. Earlier, Pakistan army received the dead body of the martyred soldier on Friday night.

Foreign Office has said the martyrdom goes against the understanding reached between the two countries on speedy return of inadvertent line crossers and has the potential to further vitiate the atmosphere.

Pakistan has also called upon India to carry out a thorough investigation into this unfortunate incident and to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
