Karachi: South African women thrashed and eliminated Ireland from title race after recording a convincing nine-wicket victory in PCB Qatar Women’s T20 Tri-Series Tournament on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar.
Ireland batted first in the match and put on board a modest total of 101-7 in 20 overs with skipper Isobel Joyce scoring 47 runs.
Protease in response reached the target easily in 14.2 overs with nine wickets in hands. Opener Lizelle Lee registered a half-century for the winning team.
The team would also be playing Pakistan, who are hosting the tournament, in the dead rubber encounter on Thursday night. The two teams will again clash in the summit clash of the tournament on Saturday.
