Pakistan to participate in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships (Daily Times (Pakistan))

Pakistan will take part in the Commonwealth Youth, Junior and Senior Weightlifting Championships to be held from October 11-16 at Pune, India. Pakistan will take part in seven weight categories including 62, 69, 77, 85, 94, 105 and +105 kgs. Presently, our national training camp is in progress at Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad in which 16 players are undergoing rigorous training under the supervision of qualified coaches, said a spokesman for the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWF) here on Tuesday. The training camp is being held under the aegis of the Pakistan Sports Board.

He said the competition was the most important supporting event for the Commonwealth countries in the sport of weightlifting. The event will be held in accordance with the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) rules and regulations. Doping control will be conducted during the competition in accordance with the IWF anti doping policy, he added. The national federation has approached the Pakistan Sports Board for obtaining the government NOC in this regard.
