Peaceful By elections held in Balochistan: PEC

QUETTA: Peaceful by polls were held in Balochistan and no untoward incident took place anywhere in the province Thursday. This was told by Provincial Election Commissioner Balochistan Syed Sultan Bayazeed while speaking to PPI here today.

Provincial election Commissioner said that peaceful polling continued from 8 am till 5 pm in 1 NA seat and 3 provincial assembly constituencies. There were 40 contestants in the run. Of these 11 candidates were in the run on NA 262 Killa Abdullah, 12 on Pb29, 14 on Pb 32 and 3 on Pb44.

He said turnout may remain from 30 to 35 percent for various reasons.

He said one incident took place in Chaman where two suspected boxes were placed outside polling booths. When checked these were found filled with earth. However Election Commission set up alternate booth by the side of the same for smooth conduct of polling.

Overall polling was peaceful in Balochistan, he added.
