AJK President Sardar Masood Khan says the people of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan will not allow India to perpetuate its subjugation of Kashmir.
He was addressing condolence reference held in Islamabad today in memory of slain Kashmiri Journalist Shujat Bukhari, who was martyred in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
The AJK President said goons of Rashtriya Swamsevak Sangh and forces of Hindutva are involved in committing atrocities against minorities in India and the Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said deliberate efforts are being made to silence freedom of expression and martyrdom of Shujat Bukhari is a bright example of this.
Sardar Masood Khan said India was annoyed over UN Human Rights report exposing grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and Shujat Bukhari had dared to highlight this report in his newspaper. He urged the international community to take notice of the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
Paying rich tribute to Shujat Bukhari, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said heartless and planned murder cannot be termed a coincidence and raises serious questions. He said his murderers have still not been brought to justice, while Indian MLAs are threatening Kashmiri journalists of similar fate of Shujat Bukhari.
He said Shujat Bukhari joined the ranks of thousands of Kashmiris martyred by Indian state apparatus, but his death will continue to serve an inspiration and motivation for Kashmiris in the struggle for realization of right to self-determination and peaceful resolution of Kashmir dispute as per UN resolutions and wishes of the people of the state. Speaking on the occasion, Kashmir leader Mashal Malik said Indian Occupied Kashmir has become an open prison due to state oppression by the Indian forces. She asked the international community and world human rights bodies to take notice of the deteriorating human rights situation in Kashmir.
Journalist Hamid Mir said political parties of Pakistan should include resolution of Kashmir dispute in their election manifesto.
