Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information. Mian Iftikhar Hussein on Tuesday said that people who are politically conscious will not tolerate any conspiracy against the holding of election on time saying that election will not be delayed and will held on its due time.
Addressing the concluding session of the four-day training workshop on Election Reporting under the auspices of Women Media Centre WMC as chief guest, he said the government is going to complete its constitutional period by March 16 and elections will be held within a period 60 days.
The lady reporters of different print and electronic media organizations, the students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication participated in the training workshop at large.
Mian Iftikhar, who is also the official spokesman for the provincial government said that some elements through terrorism is creating unfavourable environment to prevent the elections but he said that if polls could be held in Afghanistan which is passing from a civil war and
turbulent country like Iraq, then it will not be held in Pakistan.
The ANP leader apprehended that before the elections the situation would be further deteriorated and some leading politicians could also be assassinated to delay elections in the name of anarchy in the country.
He said that the elections would be held at any cost, saying only election is solution to all problems faced by the country.
Regarding the demands of the deployment of military in Balochistan, he said that it could bring better results on the under the supervision of civilian government.
He said that for the resolution of the problem of terrorism, the provincial government still gives priority to negotiations as they had never frightened.
He said that they had faced the situation with bravery and had considered negotiations as intellectual wisdom and for this purpose also convened All Parties Conference APC to bring all political forces on one platform against terrorism.
The ANP leader said that except two all political parties had participated in the APC and they are making efforts for guaranteeing the participation of the all political forces in the next such event.
He said that in Malakand Division terrorists have established parallel government and the provincial held negotiations with them and accepted their all demands. But, they violated the agreement, which unveiled their real face before the people, which helped end sympathies with them.
He said that in the struggle for the restoration of peace, ANP had given the sacrifices of 750 workers and their top leadership including Asfandyar Wali Khan was attacked while their legislators Alamzeb Khan, Dr. Shamsher Ali were killed the relatives of the MPAs from Swat, Waqar Ahmad and Wajid Ali were also been targeted by the terrorists. Similarly, he said before the last deadly attack, Bashir Bilour had survived three suicide attempts on his life.
The minister distributed certificates among the participants. The Chairman departments of Journalism, Professor Shah Jehan and media men were also present.
