Petition filed to confer Nishan-e-Haider to Benazir Bhutto

Karachi: A constitutional petition was filed on Wednesday in the Sindh High Court SHC seeking court directives to the respondents for conferring Nishan-e-Haider to Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto in recognition of her outstanding, unprecedented bravery against extremist forces.

Petitioner Sohail Hameed submitted in his petition that Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto envisioned Pakistan as a harmonized developed country and to turn it into reality she did not leave any stone unturned.

He has stated that Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto with her magnetic personality stood against extremist forces and raised voice for stability of Pakistan. He said that she showed exemplary bravery against gigantic forces, who were inimical towards Pakistan and wanted to declare Pakistan as an ‘Afghanistan’.

He stated that she as brave leader countered all faces of extremism in and outside the government at that time and remained steadfast till she was assassinated.

He said that no person in Pakistan including member of the armed forces who attained the highest award of Pakistan showed such gallantry against the enemy of Pakistan who have threatened the basic fiber of the society and the integrity and independence of Pakistan.

He stated that she also remained a rock against foreign conspiracy to extend terrorism from Afghanistan to Pakistan and thereby saved Pakistan from becoming an Afghanistan.

He has stated that sacrifices of Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by laying down her life for Pakistan deserves the highest award of Pakistan Nishan-e-Haider which should be conferred on her.

Petitioner cited federation of Pakistan through president of Pakistan and federal government through prime minister as respondents.

He has prayed the court direct the authorities concerned to confer the highest and prestigious award of Nishan-e-Haider to Mohtarma Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for her outstanding, unprecedented bravery against all odds and all faces of extremism.
