PM for efforts to ensure equitable electricity load management

Islamabad: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that every effort should be made to ensure that no sector or section of the population is burdened unnecessarily during load management.

The Prime Minister was talking to Minister of Water and Power, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar in a meeting at the PM’s House on Thursday.

Underscoring the importance of increasing hydel power generation in the country, the Prime Minister said that it is the utmost endeavour of government to expedite construction of ongoing hydro electric projects and identify new ones to increase generation in the country.

The Prime Minister said that government had framed investor’s friendly policy due to which potential investors from different countries are showing keen interest in the power sector.

Pakistan was blessed with abundant untapped resources of renewable energy which were economically viable, he added.

The Federal Minister for Water and Power apprised the Prime Minister about the progress on the ongoing hydro power projects under the Ministry. He also briefed the Prime Minister about the Tarbela 4 which has a generation capacity of 1400 MW.
