PMA delegation meets IGP Sindh

Karachi: A delegation of Pakistan Medical Association PMA comprising Prof S Tipu Sultan and Prof M Idrees Adhi met Inspector General of Police IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Wednesday at Central Police Office.

The senior members of PMA Dr Mirza Ali Azhar and Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad were also present on this occasion. The delegation discussed the issues of lawlessness, insecurity, target killing, kidnapping and extortion by the criminal groups in the city and in entire province of Sindh with IGP. The IGP was assisted by senior police officials, including Dr Sanaullah Abbasi, Naveed Khuwaja and Sultan Ali Khuwaja.

IGP Sindh was apprised about the prevailing situation in the province of Sindh in general and the city of Karachi in particular. The IG was told that nobody is safe. “There is no security to the life and property for the general public.” The extortionists and the target killers are operating with their free will. The delegation also informed the IGP about the target killing of doctors and kidnapping of doctors increasing with every passing day.

IGP listened to the complaints of the doctors and accepted that these problems were very much in the society. He also told the delegation that the police department had been facing shortage of force to overcome those crimes as compared to increase in the population. He immediately appointed a focal person from his department to take immediately the complaints of the doctors and act accordingly.

IGP revealed that police was going to get the latest equipment regarding the mobile phone area tracing and other equipments to deal with the cyber crime. These equipment is going to be added in the police department very soon and the officials will get proper training to use this equipment, he added. He also agreed with the demands of the doctors for provision of arm licenses for their self protection on priority basis.

PMA delegation demanded early and safe recovery of the recently kidnapped doctors from Khairpur. A focal person from PMA will act as a liaison officer with the Police Department.
