PMDC condemns Dr Asim's arrest (Dawn (Pakistan))

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has condemned the arrest of its former vice president Dr Asim Hussain, and his handing over to Rangers for 90 days, on embezzlement allegations.

In a statement, the PMDC termed the move shocking for education and health sectors.

Dr Asim Hussain was considered the sole decision-maker while serving at the PMDC for almost seven years.

We strongly condemn the arrest of PMDC’s former vice-president and council member Dr Asim Hussain, PMDC president Prof Masood Hameed said in the statement.

Dr Asim Hussain, Chancellor of Ziauddin University, has been a key figure in upgrading the status of medical education in the country. The country’s top undergraduate, post graduate medical/dental and nursing colleges and research centres were under his patronage, he said.
