Islamabad: Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan demanded of the government to constitute a judicial commission on Kargil conflict following revelations made by Lieutenant General (Retd) Shahid Aziz in his book published recently.
He stated this while talking to media persons outside the Parliament on Thursday, he said that there was no justification for the Kargil operation, adding that only four generals launched the operation without taking the then government and other military leadership into confidence.
He said that following revelations of the General (Retd) Aziz it has become imperative to constitute a judicial commission which should conduct a thorough investigation into the whole matter.
Announcing February 4th as the date for the sit-in outside parliament, the opposition leader said Jamiat-ul-Ulema Pakistan and Sunni Tehreek will also participate in the sit-in along with PML-N.
Commenting on current political situation, Choudhry Nisar said that an agreement between the government and the opposition over the next caretaker government seems difficult.
He also criticized Dr Tahirul Qadri for creating hurdles in the holding of next general elections, adding that Qadri was unnecessarily raising hue and cry over issues which were already settled.
He further said the decision for the formation of a new province in Punjab had not been taken in consultation with the PML-N, adding that the party will raise a privilege motion over the issue in the National Assembly.
