KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz PMLN, Pakistan Muslim League Functional PMLF and National Peoples’ Party NPP have agreed to form a political alliance for coming general elections, announced PMLN chief Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif here on Tuesday.
Talking to media at Kingri House, accompanied by Pir Pagara Syed Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi and NPP leader Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, he said the rulers once again want to befool people. He said a group of coalition government just before the end of their tenure has joined opposition so that the interim setup in Sind could be brought of their choice. He said no one could befool the people, adding no one dares to get the coming general elections postponed.
He said they wanted that the people of Sind are freed from shackles, adding they are for bringing a change in Sind. He said the political based governors should be changed before the general elections. He said Karachi have virtually held hostage, where the extortionists rule the city and people are killed on daily basis. He regretted that the order of the Supreme Court regarding disbanding armed wings of political parties is yet to be implemented. He said had this order implemented Shahzeb Khan might not have killed. He said the withdrawal of dual local government act in Sind is the victory of people of Sind.
Earlier, Mian Nawaz Sharif visited the residence of late Prof Abdul Ghafoor Ahmed and offered condolence with his family.
Paying rich tribute to the services of Prof Ghafoor, he said the JI leader was a shining star of political horizon of Pakistan. He said his legendary services in drafting of the constitution of Pakistan could never be forgotten.
On the occasion, talking to media he said the PMLN and JI are agreed that Karachi should be freed from killers and criminals. He said both parties also want to contest the coming elections in Karachi jointly. He said during last five years more than 6000 people have been murdered in the city. He said extortionists are enjoying free hand in Karachi, but the government has yet to nab the criminals. He vowed to free Karachi from killers and extortionists and make it a city of lights again. He said for Karachi peace they are ready to talk to all political parties. He said there is a dire need that free and fair elections are held in the city. He said the nation would not accept the results of unfair and rigged polls.
