Police accused of killing woman in torture

KHAIRPUR: A 50yearold woman was killed and two others were injured in an alleged police torture here on Monday.

A report reaching here said that a police party headed by SHO B-section police Khairpur, Zulfiqar Ali Qureshi, raided a house at Shah Abdul Latif Colony early in the morning and started beating up family members who were asleep.

As a result, a woman Mumtaz Ghouri was died on the spot while Mst Rehana Ghouri and Mst Paras Ghouri suffered injuries. The police also arrested Muneer Ghouri.

Talking to newsmen, family members Ashiq Ali Ghouri and Ghulam Nabi Ghouri accused that SHO after receiving bribe from their opponents, attacked their house. They strongly protested and demanded the registration of an FIR against cops, otherwise they would file a petition in the court against the raiding police party.
