Police bus attack: ATC releases suspect

KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) on Monday released a suspect Mohammad Noman due to lack of evidence, in Chakra Goth police bus attack. According to the prosecution, at least five policemen including head constable Mehrab Khaskheli, Wazeer Ali, constable Ali Abbas, constable Mushtaq Ali, constable Mukhtiar Ahmed were killed and more than 30 others cops were wounded, when a group of 15 to 18 gunmen riding motorcycles opened fire on a bus carrying dozens of policemen on the night of August 19, 20111 at Charka Goth in Korangi.

Suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by police on 13th February 2014.

A case (FIR 524/2011) was registered at the Zaman Town police station under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempted murder), 302 (premeditated murder), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
