KARACHI: Arrangements has been finalized to monitor and protect mourning processions and congregations of Muharram-ul-Haram by establishing Central Commands and Control Centre at Central Police Office and ensuring police mobiles equipped with digital cameras, where senior police officers would monitor the whole gatherings and processions and keep issuing instructions to police officers time to time for ensuring extraordinary security.
In this regard Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali had issued formal guidance on the duty roster. Staff deployed at control room would mention the record in log book of every hour from whole sub divisions, while Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi would seek the compliance report from all relevant police officer.
IG Sindh issued the instructions that recording of all the congregations and processions being held Sindh province must be made a part of Muharram-ul-Haram Contingency Plane 2014. He said provocative speeches, selling and purchasing of heart beat audio video content cassettes, and measurement for distribution of pamphlets and banners etc should be restricted by taking solid measures.
He said according to extraordinary measurement of Muharram Contingency Plane and maintaining the harmony among the all schools of thoughts, formal meeting with all scholars of Sunni school of thoughts & Shia community, administrators of gatherings and processions, other local political leaders and social personalities should held as it would help ensure peace on the occasion.
He instructed that extraordinary measures should be taken according to lists for passing of processions, congregations, places including mosques and Imambargahs, houses and all small and large processions emerging from different areas of city from first Muharram.
Jamali instructed the police officers to implementing the measurement of security with high efficiency and responsibility besides ensuring impartial actions for implementation of sanctions under article 144.
He instructed to ensure more effective measures for mobile motorcycle patrolling, foot patrolling, and snap checking at police station levels.
He instructed that steps should be taken for the safety of participants returning homes late night after participating in gatherings and processions.
