Polio drive begins in Karachi

KARACHI: A three-day Microplan Anti-polio Campaign kicked off in 57 Union Councils UCS of Karachi and other 11 districts of Sindh on Monday.

Around 800,000 children less than five-year age would be administered polio drops in 57 UCs of 18 different town of Karachi.
According to the Public Health Director, a total of 35,93229 children under five-year age would be administered polio drops in three-day campaign.

The campaign was launched in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas Division and 57 Union Councils of Karachi Division. He further said a total of 10200 teams, including 580 Union Councils Medical Officers MOs, 1975 Areas Incharges, 8493 Mobile teams, 941 fix sites and 766 transit points were taking part in three-day polio campaign in Sindh.

The district administration of Karachi made strict security arrangements in Gadap, Landhi, Baldia and Orangi Town for safety of vaccinators during drive. The administration also put police on high alert in order to avoid any untoward situation.
