UMERKOT: Polio teams in Umerkot district will be provided full security cover during anti-polio campaign starting from 11 to 13 February 2013 under which 166,032 children will be administered polio drops.
This was informed by Deputy Commissioner Umerkot Syed Ahmed Ali Shah Jeelani while addressing health department doctors, paramedical staff and civil society representatives at a meeting held to make three-day anti-polio campaign successful here.
He said that more effective steps would be taken to protect children from the disease so that the district could get an innovate achievement in this regard. The deputy commissioner directed officials to make the polio drive more better by taking effective precautionary measures at entry points of the district.
He asked them to raise full awareness among people, particularly those living in far flung areas, about polio disease and importance of polio drops. The deputy commissioner said that he should be informed with immediate effect if any problem occurs during the campaign.
On this occasion, Focal Person Polio Campaign Dr Farid Ahmed Hingorjo informed that four cases of polio had emerged in Sindh by 22 January 2013 the breakup of which was as Mirpurkhas 01, Hyderabad 01, Larkana 01 and Naushehro Feroze 01.
He told the meeting that 166,032 children would be administered polio drops in the district. For this campaign, 25 UCs medical officers, 124 area incharges, 446 teams, 130 mobile teams, 52 fixed points, 56 transit points, 04 taluka supervisors and 35 mobile motorcycle teams will be constituted.
The meeting was also attended among others by DPF officer WHO Tharparkar.
