KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Prisons, Enquiries & Anti Corruption and Mines & Minerals, Manzoor Hussain Wassan, said on Monday that establishment had never fully provided an opportunity to political forces to play their due role in running affairs of state, resulting in major problems including terrorism, ethnic, sectarian conflicts were.
Talking to a group of media at his office, Wassan said that Kutchhi and Baloch communities of Lyari in Karachi are peaceful citizens. “They have always remained voters and supporters of PPP, as Lyari is the fort of PPP. We will take all out steps in order to restore peace in Lyari,” Wassan said.
He further said that Sindh government was functioning under the able leadership of Sindh Chie Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, and there was no any militant wing in PPP. “Our leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto had sacrificed their lives, but did not bow down before terrorists and dictators.”
Wassan was of the view that land grabbing, extortion mafia and extremists were behind the deteriorated law and order situation in Karachi. It is collective responsibility of provincial as well as federal intelligence and law enforcement institutions to take drastic action against criminals without considering any political affiliation, he said.
Lauding the role of Sindh police, he said that police personnel had rendered remarkable sacrifices and services during performing their duties in Karachi. He asserted that the government wanted peace and tranquility in Sindh, particularly in Karachi.
He appealed to all the peace loving people to come forward and join hands with the government to eliminate anti-state elements, who were playing with the lives of innocent citizens.
Replying to a query, Wassan made it clear that PPP is still a largest popular party of Pakistan as it is the historical fact that credit goes to PPP and its leadership for completion of five-year tenure of government and holding elections as well as transfer of power smoothly first ever in the country history.
