Politics: PMLN expresses reservations over appointment of caretaker setup in Sindh

Islamabad: PML (N) leader Ch. Nisar Ali Khan on Friday expressed his party’s reservations over the appointment of caretaker setup in Sindh where “opposition parties weren’t taken on board.”

“How the caretaker Chief Minister was appointed in Sindh, stating that the PPP had not consulted coalition partners and role of opposition was played by a former ally of the party” he stated this while talking to media persons on Friday.

Responding a question about caretaker Prime Minister he expressed the hope that parliamentary committee will reach an agreement over the caretaker prime minister. “It is for the first time that a transparent process was adopted for appointing a caretaker setup and every system takes time to evolve‚” he told. He said that no one should have any objections if the appointment of the caretaker prime minister is sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). “We will accept whoever is appointed as the caretaker prime minister by the Election Commission, he added.

He said that if the parliamentary committee could not resolve the matter by Friday evening all four names will be referred to the Election Commission which will ultimately decide on the caretaker prime minister.

When asked why he had not consulted the JUIF over nominees, Nisar replied that all opposition parties except the JUIF were consulted because they refused to be part of the deliberations. Nisar added that he did not believe in back door channels and all steps taken by him were done in a transparent manner.

Commenting on objections rose over the government nominees for caretaker prime minister, Nisar said that names proposed by the PPP were close affiliates of the part and President Asif Ali Zardari. Nisar further said the nominees of the opposition had no affiliation with the PMLN.
