Politics: PTI condemns PML-N’s stoppage of party polls in Rawalpindi

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) condemned in strongest possible terms the interference of Rawalpindi Police and PML-N led Punjab Government in its intra party election, says a press release.

Taking note of this illegal order by the CPO, PTI Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood said that this police officer has no legal authority to any such order. Even if there is a stay order by a court, which in this case is not, the police does not go enforcing stay orders. If any one has any grievance the correct procedure is to move a contempt application in court. CPO, said Shafqat, has no authority under law too stop the party election.

Shafqat Mahmood further stated that actually this is an attempt by the PM- N to interfere in internal party elections of PTI. N League like other dynastic parties conducts sham elections to fulfil a legal requirement, he added. They are now terrified of a real internal party democracy that PTI has started.

The dynastic leaders see the traditional of internal party polls as a direct threat to their hold over the parties and thus would do anything to stop the process. Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, said Shafqat, warns PML N to stop this interference or be ready to face the wrath of charged PTI workers.
