Polling for head of state held at BA

QUETTA: PMLN candidate Mamnoon Hussain secured maximum votes in Balochistan Assembly during Presidential elections here Monday. His rival Justice R Wajeehuddin could secure only one vote.

Polling started at 10 am and continued till 3 pm. Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Qazi Faez Isa was the Returning officer for the purpose. Provincial Election Commissioner Balochistan Syed Sultan Bayzeed, Registrar Balochistan High Court Zaheeruddin Kakar and Muhammad Azam Davi were polling officers.

Mamnoon Hussain polled 55 votes while Wajheeuddin got one vote only. There were 59 eligible voters in a House of 65. Of these three did not turn up and fifty six votes cast. Two members Gul Muhammad Domar and Abdul Rehman Khetran had gone for performing umrah while Engineer Zamrak ANP did not cast vote because ANP had boycotted the presidential polls.

There was no invalid vote.

Later Sultan Bayazeed told Newsmen that results have been faxed to Islamabad and Chief Election Commissioner would announce final results. Meanwhile strict measures were adopted around provincial assembly building here today. Security forces personnel and other law enforcers were put on high alert to meet any untoward situation.

Strict vigil was made on vehicles and pedestrians. Except members, Assembly staff and Media men none was allowed entry into the premises during presidential polls.
