President approves Hilal-i-Imtiaz for late Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari on the advice of the Prime Minister, has approved conferment of Hilal-i-Imtiaz upon late Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah, former Sports Minister Sind, in recognition of his meritorious contributions in the field of medicine on Tuesday.

Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said the name of Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah was recommended by Governor Sind Dr. Ishratul Ibad Khan for conferment of Hilal-i-Imtiaz keeping in view his great services for the people.

Spokesperson said that late Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah would always be remembered for his services rendered in the field of medicine, social welfare and sports. He said that despite suffering from cancer himself, he remained active in the service of the people.

Dr. Shah established a hospital where he used to provide quality treatment to the patients, especially the poor, and never publicized his selfless services for the humanity.

The renowned surgeon and orthopaedic expert of Pakistan passed away during his cancer treatment in Houston, United States on 4th February 2013, the spokesperson added.
