Press Delegation of Sukkur Press Club calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad: A delegation of Sukkur Press Club SPC led by Mr. Saeed Jahan Alias Lala Asad called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Prime Minister House on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister said that he was pleased to learn that Sukkur Press Club has a tradition of visiting various parts of the country to have first hand information of events and issues.

He said that Islam ordains its followers to see for themselves and investigate before testifying it. It is all the more necessary for media persons as they have to report on sensitive issues which have an impact on millions of people, he added.

The Prime Minister hailed the role of media in general and Sukkur Press Club in particular for upholding and supporting the cause of democracy in Pakistan.

The president SPC thanked the government for providing the club a grant of Rs. 105 million for building a complex which has an auditorium as well as other facilities and can compete with any modern press club of the world.

He informed the Prime Minister that the complex also has a video conference facility which can link the club to the rest of the world.

Mr. Syed Khurshid Shah, Minister for Religious Affairs, Mr. Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Mr. Maula Buksh Chandio, Minister for Political Affairs attended the meeting.
