Private wards planned in KMC hospitals

Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC Administrator Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi has said that establishment of separate private wards in KMC hospitals was being considered so that hospitals’ income would increase by which poor and deserving patients could be cured free of cost.

Four projects operation theatre, surgical wards, nursing school and residence of doctors costing Rs80million should be completed immediately.

He said this while addressing a meeting held on reviewing the performance of the hospitals, resources, medicines, food and other matters.

The meeting was attended by Principal of KMDC Prof. Dr. Waqar Kazmi, Medical Superintendent of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Dr. Nadeem Rajput, Director Administration of KIHD Dr. Sirajul Haq, Chief Engineer Electrical Tariq Ansari and other officers.

Administrator Karachi said that it was very necessary to resolve the complaints about hospitals whereas the availability of medicines for patients should be ensured. He said heads of hospitals should provide their recommendations so that improving overall condition of hospitals could be possible.

He said hospitals could also be run under public private partnership whereas well off citizens could also help for curing the poor patients.

Administrator Karachi urged heads of hospitals to cover 30 percent of hospitals’ expenditures themselves so that the burden of expenses on KMC could reduce. He said it was also necessary to increase the fee of KMC hospitals which had been the same for last 25 years.

On this occasion Principal of KMDC Prof Dr. Waqar Kazmi informed that the work for giving status of university to the college was in final stage which would provide medical students with better educational facilities.

Medical Superintendent of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital Dr. Nadeem Rajput informed that Master Trainers delegation from Germany would come to Karachi for training the nursing staff of hospitals.

Administrator Karachi said that problems of hospitals would be resolved soon so that these hospitals could serve the citizens in a better way.
