PTI govt announced Rs one million for repairing of Kohati church damaged

Peshawar: The PTI-led provincial government has announced Rs one million for the repairing of the Kohati church damaged in the Sunday suicide blast.

Addressing a news conference here, provincial minister for auqaf and religious affairs Haji Habib ur Rahman said communication and works department has been assigned to assess the damages incurred to the building and infrastructure of the church. “If need arises, the government will increase the amount,” the minister maintained.

The minister said the attack on the church caused a lot of damage to religious harmony and provincial government is striving hard restore a peaceful atmosphere among the people of different religious believes.

He said that the attack on the church could be an endeavour to sabotage the peace process. the minister said that no Muslim could even think of such heinous crime.

To a question, he said that the religious affairs department of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa equally distributes funds among Muslims and minorities.

The attack on the church was security lapse but now government was devising a news plan to secure the minorities and their sacred places. He said it was the responsibility of the provincial government to protect the worship places of all minorities.
