Qaim visits river embankment, orders full preparation to combat flood situation

Ratodero, Sindh: Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Wednesday the Tori protective river embankment at Kandhkot and ordered full preparation to combat flood situation in the province.

Talking to media he said the embankments in district Kandhkot are intact and irrigation department is vigilant and watchful on them. He said water level in Indus River is not dangerous, and quite manageable.

He directed Deputy Commissioner Jawaid that the people shifted from the Katcha area should be properly given food, medical facilities and cleans water at makeshift camps. He said funds are available with the concerned deputy commissioners for providing relief to these displaced people.

Chief Minister said that his government had started preparations when the MET Department predicted heavy rains. He asked the secretary of irrigation that a spur should have been constructed at Old Tori embankment to control the course of river flow.

To a question about Muttahida Qaumi Movement MQM, he said that they have right to have their own political opinion. He said the Sindh Assembly has passed the local government bill, as per aspirations of the people of Sindh.
