Rising crime rate: Peace rally staged in Benazir’s hometown

NAUNDERO: ‘Give us back peace rally’ was taken out in the hometown of Bhutto martyrs here on Friday in which common men, activists of various political parties, teachers, social welfare workers, labour leaders and children took part.

The participants chanted slogans for maintening peace & tranquility in the town. The rally started from railway station and terminated at Allahwala roundabout. The supporters of PPPSB, Shehri Action Committee, JSQM, Awami Tehreek, Tehreek FiqaeJafferia, Soomra Ittehad, Primary Teachers Association, Government Secondary Teachers Association, Mirani Ittehad, Mehran Teachers Association and little children took part. They were holding white flags, symbol of peace, in their hands and large banners demanding nothing but peace and busting of criminal gangs which operate in the area with the help and support of influential people.

Abdul Rehman, Abdul Hameed Soomro, Rajib Sethar, Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Salim Channa, Khuda Bux Mirani, Sahib Khan Shaikh, Mumtaz Sethar and others led the rally.

Addressing the rally, these leaders said that Naundero has become hub of criminals and criminal activities have increased manifold due to which poor and peaceful peoples’ lives have become miserable and no day passes without crime. Cattle theft, bikes’ snatching, murders, receipt of frequent extorsion chits, kidnapping for ransom, forcible possession of private & government lands have made the lives of respectable citizens miserable.

They said that local or district police have done nothing for recovery of two SEPCO Naundero employees kidnapped about a week ago due to which citizens remain home after sunset. They further said that ongoing dispute between BhuttoKhuhro communities has added to their miseries wherein innocent primary teacher Muhammad Juman Khuhro.

They also urged the high police authorities to shift all those policemen who have remained posted since very long at Naundero police station as they are also involved in crimes and running gambling and drug dens but due to their influence with high police officers they always return back whenever they have been transferred in the past out of Naundero.
