Robbers make super highway unsafe for travellers

Karachi: The super highway has become unsafe for the passengers travelling between Karachi and Hyderabad, as an incident of highway robbery that took place on Friday night in the limits of Lonikot police check post has created panic among the people.

The gang of highwaymen had looted passengers of two coaches and a van in Lonikot area and fled before police could reach.

According to reports, some bandits boarded a Karachi-bound coach from Hyderabad and forced the driver at gun point to stop it in Lonikot area where their other accomplices in police uniform were already present. Later they stopped a Hyderabad-bound van and a Tando Adam-bound coach and looted the passengers.

According to Nadeem Rajput and Abid, the passengers of Tando Adam-bound Javed Salim Coach No: JB-5808, the bus had left Karachi at 9.00p.m. As it reached near Lonikot, the super highway was found blocked. Driver Babu Brohi tried to escape but failed as a van was parked ahead and bandits were looting the passengers.

Within no time over six armed bandits entered into coach and ordered passengers including women and children to get down the vehicle. The bandits started searching and looting the valuables including gold ornaments, cash, mobile phones and other things. They ordered passengers to put off even the socks to check if anything hidden there. The bandits did not spare even the women and beat up a passenger when he tried to hide his cell phone.

Some traders of Tando Adam were also travelling in the coach and were deprived of hundreds of thousand cash.

The motorway police and other police team reached late and by then the highwaymen had escaped in the hilly area.
