Rs 13.5bn estimated for constructing 6line M9 Motorway

HYDERABAD: Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Jamal Mustafa Syed has directed the revenue officers concerned to conduct survey and to ascertain present status of land required for execution of six lines M9 Motorway Project as per its revised design with the consultation of executing organization and to report him within 15 days.

He directed that after the survey, land coming within specification be notified for the project and concrete efforts be taken to transfer its title to the project management within shortest possible time.

This he directed while presiding over a meeting regarding transfer of land required for execution of 6line M9 Motorway project from Karachi to Hyderabad at his camp office today.

Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that government was taking keen interest to get this project completed within stipulated period of 24monh as such close coordination among the officers concerned and all stakeholders is essentially needed.

Responding to the allocation of land required for execution of project, the Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad said that three categories of land is required to be utilized in the project.

He said that the land, which was already leased out to other party, would be acquired under section 4, whereas state land is required to be transfer from one government entity to other.

Besides, the third category of land was under the illegal encroachment of land grabbers and same would be got vacated with force. He said that owners of all the hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps / CNG stations within the specification of project have already been noticed for vacating their space after issuance of right of way ROW to them and all are ready to follow the orders, he added.

The Divisional Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner concerned to prepare roadmap for getting land allocated to the NHW either by negotiating to owner organizations, acquiring and vacating it from the possession of land grabbers. He also directed them to nominate their focal person and assigned them to complete this task within shortest possible time.

While talking about the silent features of the project, the Divisional Commissioner said that as per PCI Rs 13.5 billion has been estimated for construction 6 line M9 136 KM Motorway from Suhrab Goth Karachi to Hyderabad to facilitate commuters. He said that the design speed of this motorway would be 120 KM, while passengers’ traffic volume of this way is estimated 21,000 vehicles per day. He said that the contract of this project has been awarded to the Frontier Works Organization FWO which would complete the project within 24 months.

He said that under this project 20 existing bridges would be widened, 7 inter change to be constructed while 46 existing box culverts, 335 existing pipe culverts would be redesigned during the work. He said that the main concern of the surrounding inhabitants about their access across the motorway would be resolved by providing subway / underpass at different locations of the motorway.

The Divisional Commissioner said that this project not only to provide fast and safe transportation facilities but also to provide income and employment opportunities to the people of Sind. He stressed the executing organization to expedite its work and ensure that same is completed within stipulated period.
