SC disposes of 171 cases this week

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court disposed of 171 cases against institution of 172 new cases during Saturday -December 22, 2012 to Friday-December 28, 2012. The backlog remains 20143 cases.

The backlog in the apex court on December 22, 2012 was 20142 cases. As 172 new cases were instituted during December 22, 2012 to December 28, 2012, the progressive total of pending cases as on December 28, 2012 came to 20314 cases.

Out of these, 171 cases were disposed of during December 24, 2012 to December 28, 2012, keeping the backlog at 20143 cases.

The Judges of Supreme Court are on winter vacations, however, two benches are working one at Principle Seat Islamabad and one at Karachi branch registry during the winter vacations. This figure of disposal pertains to two benches.
