Senate informed NHA installing weigh stations to control overloading

Islamabad: The Senate was informed Tuesday that National Highway Authority has planned to install 113 permanent weigh stations at strategic locations to cater the menace of overloading to save the National Highways.

Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada informed the House during question hour that 62 weigh stations have been installed and out of these 57 are functional.

He said NHA has also deployed 20 mobile weigh stations at critical locations.

The Minister said that Axel load policy for the National Highways and Motorways will be fully implemented from the next month after the expiry of one year relaxation period.

He said all the unauthorized weigh stations will be removed and vehicles with excess load will be fined and dealt according to the rules.
