Seven die in targeted killings, mishaps

Karachi: Seven people died in different incidents of firing and mishaps in Karachi on Thursday.
Ex-President Karachi Electronics and Small Traders Association Muhammad Irfan, who was shot and injured on Thursday night, breathed his last at local hospital in wee hours on Monday. He was attacked by unknown assailants near Abdullah College. Traders closed all electronic markets in the city to protest the killing.

Separately, 26-years old Khalid S/o Umer was gunned down by unidentified armed men outside his house at Godhra 11-J area of New Karachi in the remit of New Karachi police station. However, one and half year old Ansar s/o Abdul Samad was injured in the same incident. The body and injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Rescue sources said, both received bullets and condition of Ansar was critical. 25-years old Hussain S/o Hajji Matiullah was killed in shootout by unknown attackers in Quetta Town area of Sohrab Goth in the limit of Sohrab Goth police station. The body was moved to ASH for autopsy.

Police said victim received two bullets in upper torso. His body was found from said area in wee hours of Monday.

Moreover, 25-years-old Riaz was killed in firing of unidentified armed men near PSO fuel station, Christian Flats, Kashmir Road in the precinct of Jamshed Quarters police. However, 30-years-old Kamran S/o Fakhruddin and his brother Farhan were injured in the shootout. The body and injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi.

Police said unknown attackers riding a motorcycle targeted three men at Kashmir Road. The victim, Riaz, succumbed to his wounds in hospital while the condition of Kamran and Farhan was termed cortical. Police reached the spot soon after the incident and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a man, aged around 20 was killed in firing incident at Dua Hotel, Maripur, in the remit of Kalri police station. The body of was moved to the CHK for legal formalities. The identity of deceased could not be ascertained.

42-years-old Irshad Abbasi S/o Khani Zaman, resident of Gulshan e Iqbal was crushed to death by a moving train near Zafar Town, Landhi area in the jurisdiction of Landhi Railway Police Station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for legal formalities.

The body of 42-years-old Azeem S/o Aziz, resident of Orangi Town, who was burnt to death in Baldia Factory fire last year, was identified after DNA test on Monday. Rescue sources said still 20 bodies were present in morgue waiting for DNA results to ascertain their identity.
