Karachi: Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday extended protective bail of three accused nominated in Shahrukh Jatoi escape case till August 15.
Nawab Ali Jatoi, a brother of Shahrukh Jatoi who had been sentenced to death in Shahzeb murder case, Mohammad Khurram, a director of Sikandar Ali Jatoi group of companies and Wasi Akhtar, were granted bail by SHC on July 14, 2013.
The Federal Investigation Agency had charge sheeted Shahrukh Jatoi and, his brother Nawab Ali Jatoi, friend Mohammad Khurram, two protocol officials from Bilawal House, Mahmood Sultan and Wasi Akhtar, the private airline’s travel agents, who helped Shahrukh’s escape to Dubai on fake identity and in a fraudulent manner without clearing the due immigration process.
Three suspects moved the court through their lawyers for protective bail, submitting that the two were implicated in the case illegally.
Their counsel said that his clients were willing to come back to the country to surrender before the court and face trial but feared that they might be arrested by FIA and immigration staff at Karachi airport.
A single bench of SHC headed by Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi after hearing arguments from counsel appearing on behalf of applicants and prosecution side extended the bail by August 15.
