SHC directs protection to 2 freewill couples

Karachi: The Sindh High Court SHC on Monday directed police officials to provide protection to two freewill couples.

A division bench also issued notice to the prosecutor general and other official respondents in two separate petitions of freewill couples seeking protection.

18years old Bakhtawar contracted marriage with Noman Ali on May 22, 2013, after woman executed a freewill agreement at local court. She submitted that her family did not accept their marriage and being annoyed was harassing her husband and his family.

She stated that her family has got registered a FIR for kidnapping her on her husband in order to persecute them at New Town police station. A single bench comprising Justice Irfan Sadaat Khan directed police that there shall be no arrest in respect to the subject FIR.

Another petition was filed by Aisha and her husband Ismail who contracted marriage on May 2, 2013. Aisha submitted that her family was not accepting their marriage and has got lodged FIR at Dock police stations.

She stated that her family had declared them liable to be killed in the name of honour. The couple pleaded the court to provide protection.

Headed by Justice Justice Ahmed Ali M Shaikh, a division bench while disposing of petition directed police to provide the protection to freewill couple.
