KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Thursday issued notices to home secretary, provincial police chief, Karachi police chief, Rangers and other respondents in a petition against alleged Police and Rangers highhandedness.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar was hearing petition filed by Syed Khawar, contractor, who sought action against his alleged unlawful detention by police.
The petitioner said that he was kidnapped by four people from the premises of high court, who handed over him to Rangers’ officials after taking ransom Rs200000.
He said that after that rangers handed him to over Landhi police station and got registered two false FIR against him at station for possessing illegal weapon and one kilogram of heroin and was hold captive for several days. He said that he was subjected to inhuman behaviour and tortured by police.
He said that he was released on bail granted by SHC. He requested the court to restrain the law enforcers from harassing him and take action against them for unlawful detention.
