KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Tuesday issued a showcause notice to Incharge Crime Investigation Agency CIA Garden for keeping a resident of North Nazimabad area in illegal and unlawful confinement at CIA Center.
A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Ghulam Sarwar Korai was seized with the hearing of the petition filed by Nafeesa, seeking whereabouts of her husband, Muhammad Ali Karimi, allegedly picked up by the police officials from his residence in North Nazimabad area.
The court earlier had appointed its reader Ashiq Ali as commissioner of the court to raid the CIA Center in Garden. Following the court orders, the commissioner of the court raided the CIA Center in Garden area on October 04 and recovered alleged detainee from the custody of CIA police.
The commissioner, in his reports submitted to the court, stated that to his query CIA police officials told him that no any criminal case was registered against the detainee. During the hearing, the bench inquired about the CIA Incharge, who failed to put in an appearance before the court.
Hence, the bench issued showcause notice to incharge CIA, asking him to submit as to why action shall not be taken against him for illegally and unlawfully detaining a citizen.
The bench adjourned the hearing of the case to October 24.
