KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Monday issued notice to home secretary, director general of Rangers and inspector general of police in a petition seeking whereabouts of advocate, allegedly picked by the paramilitary forces.
A division bench headed by Justice Faisal Arab also issued notice to the deputy attorney general and advocate general, Sindh, and adjourned the hearing till Aug 26.
The petitioner, missing advocate’s son, Umer Saeed, represented by SHC Bar Association President Mustafa Lakhani and Malir Bar Association President Ashraf Samoo submitted that his father advocate Saeedur Rehman was taken away by Rangers from Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he had gone to see the body of one of his acquaintances.
He said that law enforcing agencies had illegally detained his father. Citing director general of Rangers, inspector general of police and the home secretary as respondents, he prayed to the court to direct them to produce the detained lawyer.
He also prayed to the court to take action against the law enforcement agencies officials who were responsible for illegal arrest and detention of his father.
