KARACHI: Sindh High Court SHC on Monday directed provincial law officer to submit comments on behalf of chief secretary, administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation KMC and other official respondents in a petition against China-cutting on amenity plot in Model Colony for residential and commercial purposes.

A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar was seized with the hearing of the petition filed by residents of Model Colony, who impleaded the chief secretary, administrator KMC, deputy commissioner east, SSP east Mukhtiarkar Model Colony, and SHO Model Colony police station as respondents.

The petitioners, Muhammad Mumtaz and others submitted before the court that there was 10acre land persevered for amenity purposes in Model Colony, where school, hospital, KW&SB’s boards installation, which provide water to the colony, are situated.

They told the court that 2 ½ acres of amenity plot, reserved for Eidgah, had been illegally allotted to private parties, who had made China cutting on the plots for residential and commercial purposes. They said that private respondents were raising illegal construction on the amenity plot. They requested the court to restrain illegal construction on the amenity plot.

The bench adjourned hearing of the case to November 7, when additional advocate general requested the court for more time to file comments.
