SHC seeks comments on petition against illegal appointments in SITE

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed chief secretary, secretary industries department, managing director of Sindh Industrial Trading Estates (Site) Limited Karachi to submit their comments in a petition against alleged illegal appointments in Site Limited.

The petitioners, Muhammad Tariq Mirza and three others, stated that managing director Site Limited had made over 500 appointments on daily wages in all grades from 1 to 19 illegally and later regularized their services in violation of services rules.

They told the two-judges that unlawful appointments and regularization of service has deprived the over 500 other employees from promotions.

The petitioners said that they have been employees of department for over three decades but they had been promoted only two times in their service.

They pleaded the court to declare the appointments on daily wages and their regularization illegal. The court was also prayed to direct the respondents-secretary of Industries department, managing director Site limited and others to consider them for promotions.

A division bench of SHC headed by Justice Faisal Arab issued notice to respondents and adjourned the hearing of case to September 29.
