Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday withdrew the restriction orders placed on issuance of official notification of winning candidate on the provincial assembly seat (PS-85) in Thatta.
A division bench headed by Justice Ahmed Ali dismissed the petition filed by Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) candidate, Sassui Palijo, who lost provincial assembly seat to Syed Ameer Haider Shah Sheerazi, after she decided to withdraw the petition.
Petitioner through his counsel had stated that the presiding officer did not provide her polling agents with a certified copy of the counted votes cast at 121 polling stations. She had stated that her rival had defeated her with a margin of 826 votes and the margin reduced to 408 votes in the recounting. She had claimed that the votes of various polling station were still missing and she could emerge victorious if proper recounting of the votes was done.
Following her plea, SHC had restrained the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from issuing the notification of the results of victorious candidates for PS-85 Thatta seat.
During the hearing on Wednesday, the court dismissed the petition after counsel for the petitioner submitted that he did not want to press the petition and requested for its dismissal.
