Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Health Shoukat Ali Yousafzai has contradicted a news item appeared in the daily Mashriq, Peshawar in its issue of September 23 regarding none provision of the announced free
emergency service to the people at the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar and stated that the hospital management council established already for all the teaching hospitals are actively taking care of the provision of free emergency cover and the news item is totally concocted and baseless.
He said that it seemed that the news item had been designed to look down upon a good and people friendly decision of free health care in the emergency.
In a statement on Monday Shoukat Yousafzai clarified that a strategy had been implemented in all the four big hospitals of the province and financial resources were being provided to them and it was not fair to say that the people were not being provided free medical cover.
He said new premises for the existing casualties were in the final stages of construction and soon after shifting of the casualty blocks to the new premises all the facilities would be observed practically to the masses under one roof.
The minister health said there existed issues in the health sector for the last 67 years and to implement the health initiatives of the present government would not be delayed but if the implementation process took some weeks it should not be taken as the government had made only promises.
He said full-fledged management councils had been established in all the hospitals which were doing their level best and expressed the hope that the people would not be frustrated like that of the past.
The minister health announced that the people should contact him directly on his mobile telephone or complaint should be submitted to him or the health department complaint cell and if any negligence on the part of the hospital management was found it would be dealt with iron hands.
He advised the media personnel not to instigate the masses rather support the present government implement its pro-people initiatives for the larger interest of the people.
