Six killed, three injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Six men, including an MQM activist, were killed and three others injured in different acts of violence in the city on Thursday. The gunny bag body of a man, aged about 35, bearing torture marks, was found near a drain in Nusrat Bhutto Colony within the remits of Shah Noor Jahan police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained yet.

Separately, a young man, 22, was injured in firing by unidentified armed men near Shaheed Masjid within the limits of Kharadar police station. The injured was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment where doctor pronounced him dead during treatment. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained.

Similarly, some unidentified culprits riding bikes opened fire near power house in North Karachi and left Irshad and Akram Din dead, and Usman and Rizwan injured within the limits of New Karachi Industrial Area police Station. The bodies and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively.

Police said the victims and injured were involved in drug peddling and other rival gangs attacked them with arms and ammunition on the spot. Sources said the incident was clash between two rival drug dealers and left two men killed and two other injured.

In another act of violence, rescue sources said that Akram, 40, son of Inamul Haq, was gunned down by unknown bike riders near Sector-I within the premises of Orangi Town police station. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for a postmortem. Orangi Town police denied killing in their area.

Meanwhile, MQM activist Sheeraz, 40, son of Salahuddin, was killed and other Fahad, 30, son of Nizam, was injured in firing by unidentified armed men on a shop near Café Piyala Hotel within the remit of Gulberg police station. The body and injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities and treatment respectively.

Police said unidentified bike riders opened fire on a shop, left one dead and one injured near Café Piyala Hotel in Gulberg. Police said the victim and injured were affiliated with MQM. Police said the victim was the resident of Buffer Zone while the injured was resident of Gulberg Block 12.
