Six killed, two injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Six people, including a police constable, were killed and two injured in different acts of violence in the city on Monday.

At least three people were killed and two others injured in firing by unidentified armed men near Lasbela Chowrangi within the remit of Jamshaid Quarter police station.

The rescue sources said the incident took place near a hotel situated in Lasbela Chowrangi, where police constable Javaid Awan, 45, and Iqbal, 35, were killed in the firing incident on the spot, while three people, including Jawaid, Shahzad and Iqbal, sustained bullet injuries.

The bodies and injured were rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsies and treatment respectively, where one of injured Shahzad succumbed to injuries.

Separately, a 30yearold man, Zahid, son of Riaz, resident of Sohrab Goth, was stabbed to death by an unidentified man near UBL Complex Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital ASH for a postmortem.

Similarly, a 42yearold man, Arshid, son of Amjad, resident of PIB Colony, was killed in firing by unknown assailants near Karsaz area. The body was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medicolegal formalities.

In another incident, a 35yearold man, Ashfaq, son of Saeed Ahmed, was killed in firing by unidentified armed man near City School, Khawaja Ajmer Nagari area, within the jurisdiction of Khawaja Ajmer Nagari police station.

The body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy.
