SMIU VC returns after attending Fulbright Conference

KARACHI: Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Vice Chancellor of SMI University, who had gone to USA to attend the 36th Fulbright International Conference at Washington DC, has returned back and resumed his duty from Friday, October 25, 2013.

Government of Pakistan has nominated Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh on the Board of Directors of United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan, which oversees Fulbright Scholarship Programme in Pakistan. So, on such organization’s invitation he attended the conference.

During his stay at USA, he visited different universities in USA, where the decisions of various joint academic activities were also taken.

Meanwhile, Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh chaired a meeting of deans and chairpersons of various departments and other officials of SMI University on Friday at the Conference Hall, where arrangements for Orientation Day, to be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013, were reviewed and finalized.

It was decided that the registration of newly admitted students will be commenced from 9.00 am in the premises of SMI University, which will continue for an hour. Then a main programme will be held at 10. am, at Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Auditorium of the university, with Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, in the chair. On the occasion deans and chairpersons of different departments of SMI University will introduce their respective faculty and departments to the new batch of students.

Presentation on the history of SMI University will also be given on the occasion.While classes of newly admitted students will start from Monday, October 28.
