Spokesman of Government of Balochistan

QUETTA: Spokesman of Government of Balochistan has said that earthquake hit almost whole of the province Tuesday afternoon. Reports of human and material loss have been received from Awaran, Turbat and Khuzdar Districts.

Spokesman said since Balochistan is a vast area comprising long distances and difficult terrains particularly means of communications are almost nonexistent in Mekran and Kalat Divisions. Therefore there may be delay in obtaining confirmed reports of losses.

Spokesman said services of Army and FC have been acquired for relief activities in these districts. Chief Secretary Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad was in contact with Pak Army, FC and NDMA and supervising relief activities directly. Chief Minister was also being kept abreast of the situation.

Spokesman said administration in affected districts have been asked to assess losses and effective relief activities.

A team of doctors and paramedical staff has been despatched to Awaran from Lasbella on the directives of Chief Minister. One thousand tents and other necessary items have also been sent there.

More than 80 persons injured in District Khuzdar have been brought to district headquarters hospital form various parts where they are being provided emergency medical aid.

Spokesman said Provincial government would mobilize all resources for the relief and rescue of earthquake hit people and they would not be left alone.
