Islamabad: Top seed Aqeel Khan won the single title of PTF master Cup 2013 (Men’s) at PTF Tennis Complex Islamabad after beating his younger brother Yasir Khan in a three set match. 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Aqeel Khan won the first set at 6-2 by breaking 4th and 6th game. Yasir Khan fought back in the second set and play very study game from the baseline. He took the second set at 6-3 by breaking 7th game of Aqeel Khan.
In the 3rd set Aqeel Khan build up the lead 2-0 by breaking 1st game of Yasir Khan by hitting some good passing shorts. Yasir level the score 2 all by breaking 3rd game of Aqeel Khan. Aqeel Khan again took the lead 5-2 by 4th game of Yasir.
Yasir break the 6th game of Aqeel Khan and hold his own serve. Aqeel won the final set at 6-4 with the help of two aces. Aqeel Khan was awarded Rs.25000 where as Yasir Khan pocket Rs.12000 apart from winning trophy with gold and silver medals.
Earlier for the 3rd position play off Jalil Khan brushed aside up and coming 3rd seed M. Abid who is currently member of Pakistan Davis cup team in a well contested two set match 6-4,6-4.
The match lasted one hour and 45 minutes. Top eight ranked players of the country participated in the championship which was played on the round robin basis. A total amount of Rs.60000 was distributed. All out station players were provided accommodation, travelling fare and daily allowance. Senator Syed Dilawar Abbas Petron Pakistan Tennis Federation was the chief guest and distributed prized amongst the winners.
